29 Weeks Pregnant and Into the 3rd Trimester

Wow, it's amazing how easy it is to fall way behind on this blog... SORRY!!!  Now that I've graduated from nursing school, maybe it will be a bit easier :)

How Far Along?  29 weeks 1 day

How Big is Baby?  At 29 weeks he weighs around 3 pounds and is about 16 inches long.  Babycenter.com thinks this is the size of an acorn squash, but I didn't think acorn squash were this big?!  Also, at the last 2 appointments, Neven has been measuring one week behind.  He is still perfectly normal, but at this growth rate, he will come out smaller than Aria was (8 lbs. 5 oz.).
Physical Changes in Me:  I've only gained a few pounds in the past month, putting me at a total weight gain of 20 pounds - still a perfectly healthy weight.  The following pictures were taken at 26 weeks, near Mother's Day.  Aria insisted on showing her belly, just like me :)
How I'm Feeling:  All I've been telling people lately when asked how I feel is "I definitely feel PREGNANT".  I have lots of aches and pains everyday, I have trouble getting out of bed and getting up from chairs and couches, and all I want to do at the end of each day is sit in my recliner with my feet up to relieve the stresses put on my body.  However, I still run around with Aria, I still choose to walk and take the stairs, and I even played a game of volleyball a few days ago.

Being that I have hit the stage in pregnancy where I am achy all over, I've decided to take up swimming in order to stay fit and active.  I went to the pool for the first time last week, and OH MY GOODNESS, IT FELT SO GOOD!  I loved not being able to feel gravity's pull on all my joints.  Although, I was disappointed when I tried floating... I've always been able to float easily, but Neven kept weighing me down, hehe.  At the end of my hour long solo fitness session, I signed up for a month-long water fitness class.  Hopefully this class will be exactly what I've been looking for to not only temporarily relieve my aches and pains, but to keep me in shape.

Best Moment this Past Month:  When Aria felt Neven move.  She immediately lifted her hand away and said, "WHOA!"

Other Milestones:

  • Neven hiccuped for the first time last Friday.  The hiccups didn't last for more than 2 minutes, but they were fun to feel while they lasted.
  • I passed the gestational diabetes test with flying colors, so I can continue to indulge my sweet tooth :)
  • Neven moves all the time!  He kicks so hard that his kicks and rolls are usually visible from the outside.  This past week my family even got to see him move.
  • I'm now in my 3rd trimester!!!

Baby Purchases:  I finally started work on Neven's corner in our room.  Step one was to clean off the horrendous mess on top of the dresser, and begin putting Neven's belongings into it.  I also hung the shelf above the dresser, and set up an extra storage space for him in my closet.  I bought all the teal stuff from Target (the lamp and bins).  They were the perfect color and fit for the style I want to go for in Neven's eventual nursery.  In a few weeks I will set up his bed (the pack-n-play), which will go right next to our bed.  His space is starting to come along!

I also got bags and bags of 12 month-2T boy clothes from one of my classmates.  I am so fortunate to have received such awesome clothes for Neven.  I was even able to pull out some of the gender-neutral clothes for Aria to wear now.

  2. I am doing swim classes and lap swims at the Silliman Aquatic Center in Newark. It is nice because they don't require a membership. It costs $8.00 per visit for unlimited swim and fitness center time. You can also buy long-term passes, which give slight daily rate discounts. You can check it out for yourself at http://www.newark.org/departments/recreation-and-community-services/silliman-center/
