Into the 6th Month Now

Okay, so after getting reminded by half our family at Thanksgiving that we haven't posted in a while, we have a lot to talk about! I am now 25 weeks pregnant, nearing the end of the second trimester. My baby belly didn't start showing to friends and coworkers until after I was 5 months (20 weeks), but you can definitely tell I am pregnant now! I think Aria is having a huge growth spurt since all of a sudden I am growing really big really fast. Here is a picture of my belly one week ago at 24 weeks pregnant. If you look closely you can see my belly button sticking out.

Aria is doing fantastic. Her favorite past time you ask? Kicking mom and dad! I don't think a single hour goes by in the day when I can't feel her having a jolly time kicking, turning, punching, or doing somersaults in my belly. Shaun gets to feel her all the time, and you can easily see these movements from the outside. It is fun for me because I can now distinguish which of Aria's body parts are moving. For example, I can tell you if her movement was either a kick or a punch versus her head or little baby butt.

Yesterday we had our monthly checkup, and lucky for us, we got to see Aria on an ultrasound again. SHE WAS SOOOOO CUTE! The entire time Aria was opening and closing her mouth trying to suck on her thumb or her finger! I can't believe we could even see this! Check out the picture below of Aria lying on her side looking like she is sucking her thumb! We also got to hear her heartbeat again. Our doctor printed out the pattern from her heart rate monitor. Her heart was beating strong at 144 beats per minute. One last to-do from the ultrasound... double check that she is a girl. There is absolutely no doubt now that we will be having a beautiful daughter :)

To round up our doctor's appointment, I got the H1N1 flu shot to make sure Aria and I are protected from getting extremely sick.

We started setting up Aria's room over Thanksgiving break. So far we just have her crib and bassinet/pack-n-play in the room. Over Christmas break we will try to make a ton more progress on her nursery. Our goal is to have everything set up by the end of January so that we are ready for her whenever she decides to come.

As for me, I am doing fantastic. This has been the easiest pregnancy so far. I am still jogging every Sunday, although I think I will turn my weekly workout into brisk walking soon. During the week I go on walks at work and play the Wii Fit at home. We recently upgraded our Netflix to 3 movies at a time, so I will be ordering pregnancy workout videos to keep me in shape. I also have a lot more energy than I did a couple months ago. Albeit I am tired if I do not get a full 8 hours of sleep, but I generally never get tired or want to take a nap during the day if I've gotten a good night's sleep. We'll see how long this lasts!

  1. What a great newsy blog Heather. I love the ultrasound picture of her with her little fists in her mouth. You are a beautiful pregnant Mommy and we are so happy your having a easy pregnancy. I love your baby crib. It was so fun being with all of you over THanksgiving. Enjoy your upcoming vacation and take LOTS of pictures. Can't wait to see my Aria and my daughter-in-law in a bikini. :))
